Ogun Amotekun foils armed robbery, rescues 28-year-old gunshot victim in Ewekoro

Operatives of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps, Ewekoro Command, have thwarted a robbery attempt and rescued a 28-year-old man, Opeyemi Olusanya, who sustained a gunshot wound during the attack in Akinale town, Ewekoro Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Deputy Commander of the Corps, Col. Tajudeen Bakare (rtd).
Olusanya was reportedly shot in the upper part of his left limb and found in a pool of blood before being rushed to a private hospital in Obada-Oko for urgent treatment.
Bakare stated that the operation followed a distress call from a resident of the town, prompting the Amotekun team to mobilize rapidly to the scene.
On arrival, the robbers attempted to flee in a wine-colored Kia Cerato with registration number KRD 840 JS, which was later identified as belonging to Ariwoola Abiola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori.
The robbers abandoned the vehicle and escaped into a nearby bush, making off with eight mobile phones, two laptops, jewelry, and ₦54,000 cash, according to Bakare.
He said: “At the sight of the combatant Amotekun operatives, the robbers took to their heels. They managed to escape with valuables but left behind their operational vehicle, which has since been recovered.”
The recovered vehicle has been handed over to the Nigeria Police, Itori Division, for further investigation.
Bakare added that a full-scale investigation is underway to track down the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen items.
He commended the swift and decisive response of the Amotekun officers, describing it as a testament to the Corps’ commitment to ensuring safety and security across Ogun State.
