Ogun 2027: Adebutu pledges transparency, vows not to steal public funds

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, has pledged to run a transparent and accountable administration if elected in the 2027 general election, assuring residents that public funds will be prudently managed under his leadership.
Adebutu made the promise on Wednesday at a political rally held at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, where the party formally received former senator Iyabo Obasanjo and presented her with the party’s senatorial ticket for Ogun Central.
The event attracted party leaders, supporters, and stakeholders from across the state and was preceded by a procession through major streets of Abeokuta, as supporters celebrated the latest political development within the opposition party.
Addressing the gathering, Adebutu said his administration would prioritise transparency, accountability, and grassroots development, stressing that local governments must be allowed to operate independently and receive their statutory allocations without interference.
He pledged to ensure full local government autonomy, arguing that councils are better positioned to drive development at the grassroots level when adequately funded and empowered.
“Our parents have taught us well, and I want to assure you that we won’t steal public funds.”
“I, Oladipupo, son of Adebutu, won’t steal your money. Local governments will get their funds accordingly, and we shall be transparent in all our dealings,” Adebutu declared.
The PDP governorship candidate maintained that his administration, if elected, would be committed to strengthening governance structures and restoring public confidence through responsible management of state resources.
