OBJ @ 89: Abiodun hails Former President as enduring masterclass in leadership

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an enduring masterclass in leadership and national responsibility during a lecture celebrating the elder statesman’s 89th birthday.
Speaking at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Abiodun noted that the former President’s career ranging from military Head of State to a two-term civilian leader remains a vital study for younger generations.
He specifically highlighted Obasanjo’s foundational reforms, such as the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS), the establishment of the EFCC, and the transformation of the telecommunications sector, as pillars of modern Nigerian development.
The event featured a keynote by Haitian Ambassador Jean Robert Pillard, who explored the theme "The Global Africa Enlightenment: From Chains to Renaissance."
Pillard argued that the concept of a unified Global Africa is a blueprint for the renewal of African civilization rather than a mere poetic sentiment. Tributes from other dignitaries, including the Alake of Egbaland, emphasized Obasanjo’s role as a mediator in regional conflicts and a steadfast advocate for Pan-Africanism.
The celebration served as a reminder that the future of the continent lies in strengthening institutions and fostering a shared cultural identity, a legacy that the attendees agreed would benefit African society for generations to come.
