The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the successful installation of Electronic Barrier Systems (EBS) across all terminals in Lagos Port as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and streamline traffic management.

In a statement on Thursday, the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, said the project followed extensive consultations with stakeholders to address persistent challenges of unauthorised truck diversions, which had negatively affected terminal productivity and traffic flow.

He explained that the EBS has been fully integrated with the Eto Electronic Call-Up System, managed by Trucks Transit Parks Ltd. (TTP), to ensure only trucks with valid Eto-issued call-up tickets can access terminal facilities.

“With this integration, unauthorised entries are eliminated, gate control operations are strengthened, and truck movements are more transparent and coordinated,” Dantsoho said.

According to him, the system went live on September 1 across all Lagos Port Complex terminals, marking a “significant advancement in the authority’s drive for enhanced automation and modernisation of port infrastructure in Nigeria.”

Dantsoho added that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business agenda, as it promotes transparency, accountability, and efficiency in port operations.

He thanked stakeholders for their cooperation during the implementation phase and reaffirmed NPA’s commitment to deploying innovative solutions that will foster a secure, business-friendly, and globally competitive port environment.

“The authority remains steadfast in its vision of becoming Africa’s hub for maritime logistics and sustainable port services,” he said.
