Noohra crosses 140 hours in dance marathon, edges closer to Guinness World Record

Nigerian dancer and creative force Oluwatosin Solaru, popularly known as Noohra, has now danced for over 140 consecutive hours in her extraordinary bid to set a new Guinness World Record for the Longest Dance Marathon by an Individual.

The record-breaking attempt, which began on Saturday, 22 June 2025, at Royal Roots Mall, Nile Cinema, Ikota Primary School, Lagos, is on course to reach a historic 150 hours. Having long surpassed the previous record of 126 hours, held by Nepalese dancer Bandana Nepal since 2018, Noohra has entered uncharted territory.

The challenge, officially recognised by Guinness World Records, is being conducted under stringent conditions, with dedicated medical teams, certified timekeepers, and compliance officials on site to ensure global standards are upheld.

Now deep into its sixth consecutive day, the marathon has become more than just a personal feat, it has evolved into a nationwide celebration of resilience, creativity, and Nigerian excellence. Audiences continue to gather in large numbers, drawn by the electrifying energy, community spirit, and performances from supporting local artists.

Her trainer, Joshua Oriola, beamed with pride as she crossed the 140-hour threshold: “And she has made the 140-hour mark… It’s safe to say Noohra is now setting her own record with no contender at all!”

Earlier in the marathon, he also praised her determination, “She came into this fully prepared, mentally and physically. Watching her overcome fatigue, pain, and doubt has been humbling. She’s not just dancing, she’s etching her name into history, one step at a time.”

The event has drawn widespread public and media attention. Food vendors, branded merchandise, cultural displays, and spontaneous expressions of support have turned the venue into a hub of joy and national pride.

Organisers continue to encourage brands and the general public to rally behind the attempt, describing it as a living testament to what Nigerian youth can achieve with vision, discipline, and grit.

With less than 10 hours to go, the countdown to 150 hours is officially on.
