
NNPC-SNEPCO donate vehicles, ambulance to boost security, healthcare in Lagos
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) have donated vehicles, including a specialised ambulance, to bolster security and healthcare services in Lagos State. The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) received two vehicles, while an intensive care unit ambulance was presented to the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta.
At the handover ceremony, SNEPCo’s Country Security Manager, Isaac Akinjogunla, representing Managing Director Ronald Adams, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the Lagos State Government’s security initiatives. He urged recipients to ensure the vehicles are properly maintained for the benefit of residents.
Similarly, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Engr Oluwaseyi Omotowa, in a speech delivered by Deputy Manager of External Relations, Mrs Bunmi Lawson, stated: “By strengthening the operational capacity of security agencies, these vehicles will contribute to a safer environment for all residents. This donation is part of our broader support for education and healthcare in the state, reflecting our holistic approach to social responsibility.”
Expressing gratitude for the donation, the Executive Secretary and CEO of LSSTF, Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun, said: “Together, we can foster a safer and more secure environment where businesses can thrive, and residents can feel protected.” NNPC-SNEPCo had previously donated 16 vehicles to enhance security efforts in Lagos in 2020.
The specialised ambulance was handed over to the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta, by SNEPCo’s Safety and Environment Manager, David Aghaiyo. He emphasised its role in improving healthcare access by ensuring swift emergency response and patient care.
In additional remarks delivered by Mrs Lawson, NUIMS Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Engr Oluwaseyi Omotowa, stated: “We recognise the vital role of healthcare in Nigerians’ lives and remain committed to initiatives that enhance access to quality medical services.”
Receiving the donation, the Medical Director and CEO of the Federal Medical Centre, Dr Adedamola Dada, described the ambulance as an “answered prayer,” acknowledging its significance in addressing the hospital’s growing patient needs.
NNPC-SNEPCo’s social investment initiatives, in collaboration with co-venturers Total Energies, Exxon, and Nigerian Agip Exploration, include scholarship programmes, the development of educational infrastructure such as ICT centres and digital libraries, healthcare projects, and the Shell LiveWIRE programme, which provides training and mentorship for self-employment.
