NNL: Sports enthusiasts hail 3SC over performance against Osun United

A cross-section of sports lovers on Thursday commended the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on their dominant performance against Osun United Football Club of Osogbo.

Reports state that 3SC beat Osun United 3-0 in a week 5 match in the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL) on Thursday morning in Ijebu-Ode.

3SC’s home games have been moved from Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan to Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode due to ongoing renovation work.

The game, which was earlier billed for Wednesday, was moved to Thursday morning due to some logistics.

The match, which started at about 8 a.m., was played behind closed doors.

Malomo Ayodeji scored in the 60th and 68th minutes, while substitute Hycient Nwakegwu, who replaced Ayodeji in the 80th minute, scored the third goal in the 86th minute.

Speaking with newsmen in separate interviews, the sports lovers showered praises on the squad and appealed for focus and determination as the season progresses.

Musa Abdulwasi, who is the immediate-past Deputy Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, said he was delighted with the progress made so far by the team.

“I’m extremely happy that our team came out victorious in that very tough game. This is coming at the back of our victory in Lagos over Stationery Stores FC who we defeated with the same scoreline.

“I’m also happy that the investment and commitment of the Oyo State Government are yielding expected results.

”My advice is that they (the players and officials) should please remain focused as they chase promotion to the elite league,” he said.

Also speaking, Niyi Adesina, who was Chairman of House Committee on Sports and Youth Development in the last Assembly, also praised the squad’s team spirit and efforts.

“We must give kudos to the players and the entire squad, from the medical guys to the coaching crew, to the management and everyone that make up the squad.

“It is very important for 3SC to be very focused and remain determined now. They can’t afford to be complacent as the job isn’t done yet. We are just five games into the season.

“Yes, they have done well, but it is not over until it is finally over. I hope the investment and commitment of the government to the team also continues,” he said.

A female supporter of 3SC, Sade Adeogo, also said the time was ripe for the club’s promotion to the elite league.

She expressed optimism that they would secure the required points for playoffs and subsequent promotion.
