NITDA partners with Ukraine to digitise government sector by 2027
…Set to advance digital governance with One-Stop-Shop portal for government services

In alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is intensifying efforts to develop a centralised digital portal for all government services.
This initiative, according to the executive order of the President, seeks to digitize 75 per cent of government services by 2027.
This is a move aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.
The commitment was reiterated when NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, hosted the Ukrainian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Ivan Kholostenko, and his delegation at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations between both countries to improve governance through technology-driven solutions.
Despite previous attempts to establish a unified e-government platform like OneGove.net, NITDA has remained a driving force in shaping policies, standards, and implementation strategies for digital governance in Nigeria.
Inuwa emphasised that extensive research into successful models from countries such as the UK and Kenya is helping to refine Nigeria’s approach.
“While such models are not entirely transferable between nations, we can learn from their experiences to develop a framework that works for Nigeria,” Inuwa stated.
He further highlighted the need for legal frameworks to support the initiative, ensuring seamless integration and sustainability.
NITDA is also engaging with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to align Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts with global standards.
This move is expected to provide technical expertise and best practices that will shape the country’s digital governance roadmap.
The Ukrainian delegation introduced the Diia application, a digital platform that centralises government services, databases, and state registers in one ecosystem.
Ambassador Kholostenko expressed his country’s willingness to support Nigeria in developing a similar platform, emphasising that digital governance minimizes bureaucracy, enhances service efficiency, and reduces corruption risks.
With this renewed momentum, NITDA’s digital governance initiative is set to revolutionise service delivery, ensuring a smarter, more transparent, and citizen-friendly government experience in Nigeria.
