President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate and permanent reinforcement of security at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, following a recent bandits’ attack on the institution’s perimeter that claimed the lives of security personnel.
The directive was conveyed on Friday following a visit by Vice President Kashim Shettima to the Institute on behalf of President Tinubu.
Speaking, the Vice President said the attack has further strengthened the Federal Government’s resolve to safeguard strategic national institutions, support security agencies and ensure that similar incidents do not catch the country unprepared.
He also conveyed the condolences of the Federal Government to the families of the two soldiers and one police officer who lost their lives during the attack.

“The President has directed the immediate activation of emergency security measures at the institute,” Shettima said.
He disclosed that the Director-General of NIPSS has been instructed to work closely with the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to fortify the institution’s perimeter against future attacks.
Shettima further revealed that President Tinubu has directed the submission of a comprehensive action plan for the permanent reinforcement of security at the institute within 72 hours.
According to him, the plan is expected to cover critical areas, including surveillance systems, deployment of security personnel, access control mechanisms and emergency response systems.
“The comprehensive action plan and implementation timeline must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President within 72 hours,” he stated.
The Vice President assured participants and staff of the institute that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting lives, securing critical national institutions and strengthening the country’s security architecture.
