Nigerian Gas Network Authority commences H2 2025 reconciliation to curb data discrepancy

The Nigerian Gas Network Authority has officially inaugurated the H2 2025 Reconciliation Workshop, a high-stakes technical audit designed to bring transparency to domestic gas accounting.

The exercise focuses on verifying and reconciling gas volumes transported across the national network between July and December 2025.

Executed under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and the Nigerian Gas Transportation Network Code, the workshop serves as a platform for gas suppliers, pipeline transporters, and off-takers to synchronize their data.

The primary objective is to align custody transfer data with fiscal metering records to ensure every cubic foot of gas is accurately measured and reported across the network.

Participants are tasked with reviewing nominated versus actual allocated gas volumes. The Authority aims to resolve discrepancies caused by measurement variances, network imbalances, and operational losses.

The Discussions also explore strategies to strengthen monitoring and reporting processes. The Authority emphasized that accurate reconciliation is not merely a bureaucratic requirement but a prerequisite for optimizing supply planning and investment decisions, ensuring the overall growth of Nigeria’s energy infrastructure.
