Nigeria at 64: LASG gives out 1,000 free tickets for fun
Lagos State Government gave out 1,000 free tickets to fun seekers in celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary.
Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism Arts and Culture, made this known at the celebration of the anniversary at the Giwa Gardens, Sangotedo.
He said that tourism in Lagos State would continue to blossom, adding that residents and visitors would continue to enjoy recreational centres for relaxation.
“It is not just about giving out 1, 000 tickets, it is about families coming out to unwind and bond.
“It is important that, as parents, we educate our children about our identity as Nigerians.
“We know there are problems here and there but we remain thankful and grateful. Things will get better as long as we keep believing,” he said.
The special adviser said it was important for the public and private sectors to form partnerships that would engender tourism development.
“One of our problems in this country is that we believe government alone should do everything, which is not possible.
”Society thrives on partnerships from all sectors; I am sure a lot of us did not even know that this place exists.
“We will continue to give players in the tourism sector our unflinching support, just as my governor said few days ago.
“Lagos State is fully committed to harnessing the potential of tourism,” he said.
In an interview, a fun seeker, Mr Okey Ndubisi, said that Giwa Gardens should be replicated.
“This is commendable, my children are having fun as I am.
“I drove from Ilupeju. I wish we had something like this on the mainland. Kudos to the brains behind this,” he said.
Another fun seeker, Miss Opemipo Ajayi, said that she would be looking forward to another free ticket for fun in December.
“I wish to come here again by December,” she said.
