NIDCOM targets increased diaspora investments, says over N673m deals sealed in 2024

The Chairman and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has revelaed that the agency is targeting increased investments from Nigerians in the diaspora.
This call comes ahead of the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) scheduled for November 11-13, 2025, in Abuja, witj the theme: “Fast Tracking Regional & National Development By Mobilising Diaspora Investment.”
Speaking at a Joint World Press Conference at the NiDCOM Headquarters, Dabiri-Erewa highlighted the proven effectiveness of the Summit, which has functioned as a trusted platform for fostering direct, credible, and impactful investments from the Nigerian diaspora since its inception in 2018.
She specifically pointed to the success of the 2024 edition, which saw over 1,500 participants, including 236 investors and nearly 1,200 business owners. Crucially, the 2024 Summit successfully yielded 56 investment deals valued at approximately ₦673 million, with the creative sector leading the charge by securing 39 deals, followed by impressive results in infrastructure, real estate, agribusiness, and energy sectors.
The NiDCOM Chairman asserted that NDIS has grown beyond a mere conference, transforming into a catalyst for enterprise and sustainable development that fosters job creation, youth empowerment, and connects Nigeria’s vast talent pool to its development agenda.
She also noted that several state governments, including Ondo, Nasarawa, and Borno, have previously leveraged the Summit to attract investors for major development projects, citing Ondo’s port initiative which later received Federal Government approval.
Dabiri-Erewa further announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, and she extended appreciation to long-standing partners such as DTCA, NIPC, First Bank, NNPC, and AG Mortgage.
Also addressing the press, Dr. Badewa Adejugbe-Williams, Chairperson of the Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI), noted that the conference has consistently served as a vital bridge, successfully attracting investments and unlocking the vast potential of the diaspora for Nigeria’s growth.
She stated that this year’s theme aligns perfectly with the current administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to diversify the nation’s economy and drive inclusive, sustainable development.
The Summit, which is organized by NiDCOM and NDSI, connects Diaspora investors with local entrepreneurs across key sectors including Finance and Fintech, ICT, Creative Industries, Agribusiness, Healthcare, and Real Estate.
