NiDCOM boss congratulates Anne-Marie Imafidon on appointment as chancellor of varsity in UK

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon, on her new appointment as the Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University, UK.

A statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun Director, Media, Public Relations and Protocols at NiDCOM, indicated that Dabiri-Erewa in a congratulatory message described the appointment of Imafidon as well-deserved going by her antecedents.

The statement quoted the NIDCOM chief executive officer as saying that Nigeria is proud of the record-breaking achievements of Imafidon at a young age.

According to her, the statement maintained, Imafidon’s unimaginable standards have earned her the prestigious assignment to continue to serve humanity.

While praying for her success and impactful tenure, the NiDCOM boss acknowledged the receipt of her invitation to attend the prestigious Chancellor’s installation slated for July 2, as a special guest of Imafidon, saying it is a great honour to her.

She urged Imafidon not to rest on her oars by being a trailblazer.

She also advised her to continue to motivate others to be the best in their endeavours.

Apart from being the youngest leader of a non-private university and the youngest scientist to become chancellor of a multidisciplinary tertiary institution, Imafidon has now become the youngest chancellor of a major university.

This feat she has attained, began with her siblings when they joined the ExcellenceInEducation.org.uk mentorship programme – a project that nurtures innercity kids.

While there, she achieved global recognition as the youngest person to attain an advanced level education in Computing and Mathematics followed by a scholarship at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, U.S. at the young age of 13.

Imafidon said, “To be welcomed to an institution that stands for the Common Good is one of the greatest honours of my life.”
