NGF Chairman visits Niger State to bolster joint security efforts following terror attacks

In a significant show of interstate solidarity, Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, paid a condolence visit to his Niger State counterpart, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

The visit follows recent devastating terrorist attacks on communities within the Borgu Emirate of Niger State, which have resulted in the loss of lives, the destruction of local livelihoods, and the displacement of numerous residents.

Governor AbdulRazaq described the resurgence of violence in the region as unfortunate and heartbreaking, noting that the nefarious activities of bandits continue to pose a severe threat to the socioeconomic stability of the North Central zone.

Speaking on behalf of the Kwara State Government and the NGF, he extended his deepest sympathies to the people of Niger State and reaffirmed a commitment to working closely with federal authorities to deploy more robust security measures across the country’s troubled hotspots.

In response, Governor Bago expressed his gratitude for the visit, characterizing it as a vital demonstration of the togetherness required to combat insurgency.

He pointed out that Kwara and Niger share a porous border around the Borgu Emirate, making them uniquely vulnerable to the same security threats. Bago emphasized that his administration remains farmer-centric and will leave no stone unturned in its collaboration with stakeholders to restore peace, ensuring that agricultural activities the backbone of the state's economy can resume without the shadow of fear.
