NESREA Boss hails National Single Window Project as a milestone for Nigerian trade

The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Professor Innocent Barikor, has publicly endorsed the National Single Window (NSW) project, labeling it a monumental breakthrough for trade facilitation in Nigeria.
The Director General made these remarks on Wednesday in Abuja during a sensitization webinar organized by the NSW Secretariat.
The virtual session, directed at the management and staff of NESREA, forms part of a broader awareness campaign leading up to the imminent launch of the project's first phase.
Professor Barikor reaffirmed that the NSW initiative perfectly aligns with NESREA’s vision for modernizing Nigeria's trade and regulatory models.
Pledging the agency's unwavering support as a key stakeholder, he emphasized that the platform represents a milestone achievement that brings the nation strictly in line with global best practices.
He also expressed strong confidence that the unified system will seamlessly accommodate the operational demands of all participating organizations while effectively resolving existing bureaucratic bottlenecks.
Shedding light on the technical aspects of the project, the Director of Business Analysis at the NSW Secretariat, Peter Ekunkoya, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the platform's objectives and structural framework.
He explained that the National Single Window is deliberately designed to serve as a unified, central interface for all government agencies involved in trade and regulatory enforcement.
Ekunkoya further noted that Phase 1 of the rollout will lay the critical groundwork needed to foster better coordination among these various agencies.
By centralizing operations, the platform is expected to drastically reduce processing times and ensure much more efficient service delivery across the board.
The sensitization event concluded with an interactive segment, providing NESREA personnel the opportunity to engage directly with the NSW deployment team and seek clarification on potential areas of operational concern.
