The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has emerged as a standout performer at the 2024 Federal Public Service Innovation Competition, securing both 1st and 3rd place among 155 entries from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the country.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, announced the winners during a prestigious award ceremony held in Abuja on Tuesday, April 29. NDIC’s top-ranking innovation, developed by the Carpooling Team, is a digital rideshare application designed to reduce commuting costs for federal workers. The project earned the team the grand prize of N5 million.

Meanwhile, a second NDIC team took 3rd place and a N3 million award for Perfoma, a digital platform aimed at boosting staff productivity and streamlining administrative processes.

The platform functions as a comprehensive online secretariat that enables document tracking, task monitoring, and performance measurement, offering a full suite of office tools tailored for civil service efficiency.

Mrs. Walson-Jack lauded the innovations as aligning with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25), which emphasizes innovation as a cornerstone for transforming public service.

Speaking on behalf of the NDIC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Bello Hassan, the Director of Strategy Development, Mrs. Gwa Uduwak Zachary, expressed appreciation to the Office of the Head of Civil Service for sustaining the innovation competition and commended the NDIC teams for their “ground-breaking achievements.”

Welcoming the victorious teams, Mr. Hassan stated, “This double recognition is a testament to the innovative spirit and professionalism that NDIC nurtures. Our teams have once again demonstrated the Corporation’s leadership in deploying technology and creative thinking to solve real-world challenges.”

The NDIC’s performance underscores its commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and cost-effective governance, reinforcing its role in advancing public service reform and national development.
