NAEC re-elect Amadi as President, usher in new executives

The Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) has ushered in a new administrative cycle following a keenly contested election at its Obanikoro Secretariat, which saw the re-election of Ugo Amadi and Dr. Adeola Yusuf to lead the body for the 2026–2028 term.
The electoral process, which drew participation from journalists, editors, and publishers across the energy beat, reaffirmed the mandate of Ugo Amadi of Champion Newspaper as National Chairman.
Similarly, Dr. Adeola Yusuf, representing Platforms Africa, was returned as Vice Chairman, signaling a vote of confidence in the previous leadership's direction.
The new executive committee features a blend of returning officers and fresh perspectives aimed at navigating the evolving landscape of Nigeria’s power, oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.
Peter Uzoho of THISDAY Newspaper continues his tenure as General Secretary, while Anthony Ebigie of Energy Newsstream retains his position as Treasurer. Joining the team are Waliat Musa of The Guardian, who emerged as the Financial Secretary, and Oredola Adeola of Advisors Reports, who was elected as the Public Relations Officer.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Ugo Amadi expressed profound gratitude to the membership for their unwavering faith in his team.
He pledged that the next two years would be defined by an expansion of the association's activities and a renewed commitment to professionalism.
Amadi emphasized that the leadership intends to bridge gaps within the industry by strengthening strategic partnerships with key stakeholders through active engagement, ensuring that NAEC remains a central voice in the nation's energy discourse.
The election marks a significant milestone for NAEC as it positions itself to report on the complex transitions currently defining the Nigerian energy industry, from solid minerals to the burgeoning renewable energy market.
