My achievements for muslim ummah surpass my predecessors’ records — Adeleke

By Ismail Azeez
The Osun State Muslim Community recently hosted Governor Ademola Adeleke, who declared to the Muslim Ummah that his achievements in the Islamic sector surpass those of his predecessors.
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, the Governor asserted that his accomplishments for the Ummah remain unrivaled.
He described his record as groundbreaking and challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate to campaign on the track record of his own party’s previous administration.
Accompanied by top Muslim aides who highlighted various milestones achieved over the last four years, the Governor noted that for 12 years prior to his assumption of office, Osun was the only state in the South West without a Hajj camp.
He expressed satisfaction that his administration is nearing the completion of a new Hajj camp to rectify this long-standing omission.
Governor Adeleke also pointed out that previous administrations, despite claiming strong Islamic credentials, failed to build a mosque at the Government House, a project his administration is currently executing.
He further noted that past leaders had refused to constitute the Hajj Welfare Board for years. In contrast, his administration not only established the board but also secured enhanced benefits for Osun pilgrims.
Highlighting recent policy shifts, the Governor explained that Osun recently became the first state in the South West to formalize the issuance of Islamic marriage certificates.
This system is now operational, and he has directed that the issuance process be fully domiciled with the Osun State Muslim Community as the umbrella body for Muslims in the state.
He emphasized that many of his principal officers and cabinet members are Muslims, ensuring the community receives a fair share of representation across the board.
He concluded by urging the public to judge leaders by their actions rather than their rhetoric.
Corroborating the Governor’s assertions, his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Muniru Raji, declared that Senator Adeleke has delivered extensively for the Muslim Ummah and deserves to be re-elected.
He criticized previous administrations for neglecting the community and thanked the Governor for implementing projects tailored to the needs of Muslims in Osun State, expressing confidence in further progress ahead of the August 15th election.
Earlier in the event, the Chairman of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, explained that the invitation was part of an open platform designed for all governorship candidates to present their programs and policies.
While thanking the Governor for his deliveries so far, Alhaji Olawuyi presented further requests to the administration and urged the Governor to maintain his fair-minded approach to all faiths.
The Governor was accompanied to the event by members of the Imole Campaign Council and the State Executive Council.
