Man remanded for allegedly stealing building materials, plastic chairs worth N444,000 in Abuja

A Grade I Area Court sitting in Kabusa, Abuja, on Tuesday,  ordered the remand of a man, Nazefi Abdullahi, for allegedly stealing some building materials and plastic chairs, worth N444,000.

Abdullahi, of no fixed address, is charged with criminal trespass and theft, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Mr O.S. Osho told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 10 and was reported at Durumi Police Station by Emmanuel Bassa.

Osho said that the defendant stole eight-length of two-inch pipes, valued at N52,000 and four-inch iron pipes, valued at N62,000.

He listed other items allegedly stolen by the defendant as: rolling angle iron for gate, valued at N35,000 and 60 pieces of plastic chairs, valued at N330,000.

He said that the offences contravened sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Malam Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with a surety in like sum.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till Nov. 7 for hearing.
