Man docked for allegedly stealing neighbour’s N250, 000

A 26-year-old man, Michael Peter, was on Wednesday docked in a Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N250,000 cash belonging to his neighbour.

The police charged Peter, who lives on Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna, with conspiracy, theft and burglary.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 6, in Kaduna.

He alleged that Peter conspired with two others, at large, and also stole jewellery, shirts and a  generator belonging to his neighbour, Mr. Julius Isaiah.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 401, 271 and 308 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.

The Magistrate, Mr. Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Emmanuel said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and he adjourned further hearing in the case until Jan. 11.
