Man appeals for protection after persistent threats from confraternity

A Nigerian man, Oshionebo Oshiayemhe Josiah, has raised an urgent alarm over alleged threats to his life from members of a confraternity group, saying he has been left with no choice but to seek help from relevant bodies

In a statement released on Monday, Josiah said he fled from Jattu to Abuja on June 30, 2025, after enduring continuous intimidation, but noted that the threats have persisted.

According to him, the confraternity, identified as the Vikings, has sent repeated menacing messages claiming knowledge of his movements and vowing to harm him.

Josiah revealed that the latest threat, received via text message on September 15, 2025, contained his home address and a chilling warning that the group was “watching and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.”

“These threats have taken a toll on my mental health, leaving me anxious, scared, and unable to sleep or eat properly," he said.

He appealed to Nigerian authorities to intervene and hold those behind the threats accountable, while also calling on the international community to assist in providing him with a secure refuge

“I fear for my life. With no safe haven in sight, I urgently seek protection,” Josiah stated.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from security agencies regarding his claims.
