Man, 54, docked for alleged conversion, stealing

A 54-year-old man, Samuel Iniatimi was on Friday docked before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing the sum of N3.27 million entrusted in his care.

The defendant is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on stealing, causing a breach of peace and conversion.

He, however, pleaded not going to the charge before Magistrate L J.K Layeni

The prosecutor, Mr. Simon Uche told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January 2021 at Iba town in Ojo.

He alleged that the defendant converted the sum of N3.27 million belonging to the complainant, Maze Oviasogie, which he transferred to his Wema bank account on trust.

The defendant was alleged to have utilised the money of Oviasoge and could not give a satisfactory account of its where about when demanded.

He was also alleged to have caused a breach of peace by steering up violence.

The offence contravened the provisions of sections 168, 280, and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 11, 2023 for trial
