Man, 42, remanded in Ibadan Correctional facility over alleged murder

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of one Rasheed Ismaila, 42, in a correctional facility in Ibadan over an alleged murder.

Ismaila, whose residential address was not provided, is charged with murder.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case till May 13 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 5 at about 11.30 p.m. at Ejioku junction area of Ibadan.

Adegbite said that the defendant unlawfully caused the death of one Kamoli Yusuf, 40, by stabbing him in his stomach.

The offence, according to him, is contrary to Section 316 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
