Man, 35, arraigned for allegedly stealing ATM card, N216,000 cash

 A 35-year-old man, Zahara Yusuf, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and N216,000 cash.

The defendant was charged with stealing, which he pleaded not guilty to.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 14, at the Karambusuwa section of Alaba International Market in Ojo.

He alleged that the defendant stole a First Bank ATM card belonging to a nominal complainant, MrAminu Abubakar, at the market.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also stole a cash sum of N216, 000, belonging to the said complainant.

Uche said that the defendant was eventually arrested, following police investigation, and consequently charged.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate L.K.J Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until April 30, for hearing.
