Magistrate orders brothers to sweep court premises for three months for impersonating soldiers

A Magistrate Court in Ota, Ogun, on Wednesday ordered two brothers, Segun, 39 and Elijah Ogundeji, 20, to sweep the court premises for three months for impersonating military personnel.

The police charged the convicts, whose address were not provided, with impersonation and conspiracy.

They pleaded guilty to the offence.

In his ruling, Magistrate A.O. Adeyemi ordered the convicts to sweep the court premises for three months without an option of fine.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convicts committed the offence on September 2 at about 5.30 p.m. at Ijako Church area, Ota.

He said that the convicts impersonated military personnel.

The prosecutor said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 384 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
