Lekki port receives second ship

Lekki Deep Seaport has just received the second ship today (Friday).

The ship-ZEN-HUA 35 conveyed the second batch shipment comprising two Ship to Shore cranes with 115 packages of accessories and five Rubber Tyre Gantry cranes with 270 packages of accessories from Shanghai, China.

“The yard equipment for the port is expected to be shipped shortly”, a company source told SlyeNews.

It would be recalled that Lekki Deep Seaport made history on July 1, 2022 as it received the first-ever vessel (Zhen Hua 28) to berth at the port.

The ship brought three Ship To Shore (STS) cranes and ten Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello-Koko, said the successful delivery of the three STS and the ten RTG cranes was critical to the commencement of operations of the deep seaport.

He said Lekki Port, when fully operational, will be the first fully automated port in Nigeria.
