…projects to be completed in four months

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the healthcare services available to its citizens through the revitalization of Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, during a stakeholders’ meeting on the ongoing revitalization initiative under the IMPACT Project, held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja.

Prof. Abayomi emphasised that the Lagos State Government is heavily invested in the improvement of healthcare services and sees the overhaul of Primary Health Care Centres as a priority.

“The ongoing improvements focus on upgrading infrastructure, increasing human resources, acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, and enhancing technical capacity at the primary healthcare level”, the Commissioner said.

He assured the public that the efforts are in line with the government’s drive to provide affordable and accessible healthcare for all Lagosians.

The Commissioner further confirmed that the infrastructural renewal at select Primary Health Care Centres is set to be completed within four months, signalling the government’s swift action to address the urgent needs within the health sector.

Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, also shared her support for the initiative, reinforcing the importance of building a robust healthcare system for the people of Lagos State.

Earlier in his welcome address, Dr. Akinwunmi Mustafa, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, expressed the significance of the IMPACT Project, noting that it is a vital initiative for the revitalization and upgrading of PHCs in Lagos State.

Dr. Mustafa highlighted that the project not only focuses on infrastructural renewal but also aims to improve service delivery to ensure that communities receive the highest quality of care. He called on all stakeholders to actively participate in making the project a success for the betterment of society.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Authority, Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde, commended the initiative, emphasising that it would go a long way in improving healthcare delivery services to residents in the local communities.

He expressed his gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his dedication to improving the health of Lagosians. He further pledged his full support for the initiative and assured that his office would render all necessary assistance to contractors deployed within the Local Council.

The meeting was well-attended by key stakeholders, including Permanent Secretaries from the Health Districts, General Manager of LASIAMA, Chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas, Directors from relevant Ministries, and contractors working on the project.
