The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Wednesday announced the closure of several religious and recreational establishments in the state for violating noise pollution regulations.

In a statement issued through its official social media handle, LASEPA confirmed that the affected businesses, including churches, night clubs, hotels, and event centres, were found guilty of breaching environmental standards after repeated warnings.

Among the sealed properties were Honourable Lounge & Lodging, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Celestial Church of God, OMA Night Club and Lounge, Bridge Spot Bar, as well as hotels such as Okiki Event Centre, Emota Paradise Hotel (Phase 2), and Smile T Continental Hotel. Other affected locations included CF Hotel & Suites and House 27 Hotel & Suites.

“The action was part of our ongoing efforts to address noise pollution, which continues to threaten public health and environmental well-being in Lagos State,” LASEPA stated.

“The affected establishments have repeatedly disregarded the agency’s environmental guidelines, prompting the need for enforcement.”

LASEPA emphasised its firm stance on regulatory compliance, noting that businesses operating within the state must adhere to noise control regulations or face punitive measures.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy towards non-compliance,” the agency added.

This crackdown follows a broader campaign targeting high-noise zones across Lagos, including Ogudu, Gbagada, Iyana Ejigbo, and Isolo. LASEPA has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos, urging all establishments to align with environmental laws to safeguard public health.

Lagos residents have long expressed concern over noise pollution, particularly from churches, bars, and clubs, which have been blamed for disrupting communities.
