Lagos Police activate CCTV network to boost security

In a move to strengthen security across Lagos Island, the Lagos State Police Command has activated a state-of-the-art CCTV Surveillance Centre.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the facility will provide real-time monitoring of the Third Mainland Bridge, surrounding waterways, and other strategic locations to help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
The initiative, launched under the leadership of CP Olohundare Jimoh, is supported by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works.
The Third Mainland Bridge CCTV monitoring centre was commissioned earlier by Minister Engr David Umahi, who described it as a critical safety upgrade under President Bola Tinubu’s directive to secure key federal infrastructure.
The centre features high-definition cameras covering both the bridge deck and underwater sections, a dedicated surveillance boat, and two operational Hilux vehicles to enable rapid deployment.
“The Centre operates 24/7 with well-trained officers to ensure swift, intelligence-led responses,” Adebisi said.
The police urged Lagos residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 0706 101 9374, 0806 515 4338, 0806 329 9264, and 0803 934 4870.
This development comes as part of broader efforts to enhance technology-driven policing in Nigeria’s largest city, reinforcing both public safety and infrastructure security.
