Lagos Commissioner tasks management staff on professionalism

The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, has called upon the management staff of the Ministry to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the execution of their duties at all times.

He made this assertion during the ongoing Year 2024 Strategic Management Retreat for GL 15-17, themed: “Engendering Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Youth Development in a Diverse Environment,” organised by the Ministry at Jubilee Chalet, Epe.

“We must maintain professionalism in every aspect of our duties within the Ministry. Whether in Social Welfare, Rehabilitation, or Youth Development, our approach must be rooted in professionalism to ensure we deliver the highest quality of service to the public we are here to serve.

“Equally, we need trust, integrity, passion, and transparency to successfully navigate any challenges that may arise,” the Commissioner stated.

Mr Ogunlende further encouraged the management staff to embrace change, step out of their comfort zones, and adapt to the evolving trends shaped by the digital and social media landscape.

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, emphasised that the retreat serves as an opportunity for participants to reflect on the Ministry’s achievements while also engaging in self-reassessment to acquire new skills and knowledge essential for effective and efficient service delivery to the people of Lagos.

“This retreat is designed for us to learn, unlearn, and relearn. It offers us the chance to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to approach our work differently. As social workers, the public has high expectations of us.

“The THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu demands that we intensify our efforts. While we should celebrate our accomplishments, we cannot afford to become complacent. There remains much to be done for us to fulfil our mandate as a Ministry,” the Permanent Secretary remarked.

The retreat continues to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and professional development, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing service delivery for the benefit of all Lagosians.
