Kwara 2023: My focus is good governance, zero tolerance to corruption — Prof. AbdulRaheem
Prof. Shuaibu AbdulRaheem, the Kwara Governorship Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), says his focus is good governance through zero tolerance to corruption, if elected.
AbdulRaheem revealed his vision while speaking in Ilorin on Tuesday.
“My first focus is to bring good governance, through zero tolerance to corruption.
“This will enable the Kwara state and of course the country have sufficient resources to go round, in managing all aspects of government,” he said.
AbdulRaheem, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, stressed that his interest in politics was not for love of money, but to bring comfort and succour to a very abused population.
“I want to bring relief to a state that has been ruled by irresponsible people over the years. Who have made them poor and have not made provision for the future of their children.
“Rulers who have neglected the youths and made them thugs and vagabonds,” AbdulRaheem said.
The NNPP gubernatorial flagbearer reiterated that welfare of the people is the number one responsibility that he would shoulder, then remove those that are not patriotic to prevent exploiting people.
“We will focus on restructuring the state education facilities, not just renovating classroom areas, rebranding infrastructures, which was a means of corruption.
“We will rebuild and restructure the education curriculum, so that it can give functional education to our children,” he said.
On incumbency factor, AbdulRaheem said, “Everybody can sit and say that they will not leave, but the people that bring you in can always send you out.
“I am not afraid. I trust the commitment and intelligence of the average Kwara voter, because they know what they have experienced over the past years and what the future holds.
“So, whoever is sitting down and depending on incumbency as an instrument of continuation of unpopular administration, is doing so at his own risk.
“I am committed to the vision and determination to deliver governance,” AbdulRaheem said.
