Kogi police warn against disrupting Okura II bye-election

The Kogi State Police Command has issued a stern warning to hoodlums to stay away from polling booths and collation centres during the bye-election in Okura II State Constituency on Saturday.
In a statement on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Williams Ovye-Aya urged members of the public not to take the law into their own hands. He stressed that anyone found violating election regulations would face decisive action.
“Police will not hesitate to deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace currently enjoyed in the state,” Ovye-Aya said.
The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, reiterated the command’s readiness, in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process. He also called on residents to cooperate with law enforcement officers to prevent interference from criminal elements.
