Kano Gov't denies plan to recruit 3,917 teachers

The Kano State Ministry of Education has debunked reports circulating on social media claiming that the state government is set to recruit 3,917 teachers under a so called “Kano State Government Basic Education Teachers Mapping and Recruitment Plan (2025–2028)”.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry described the viral information as “false, misleading, and baseless,” warning the public to disregard it completely.
According to Malam Balarabe Abdullahi, the Director of Public Enlightenment in the ministry, no official announcement or directive has been issued regarding teacher recruitment.
“The ministry wishes to inform the general public that it has not made any official announcement regarding teacher recruitment,” Abdullahi said.
He stressed that the clarification became necessary to prevent confusion and the spread of misinformation among residents, especially job seekers eager for employment opportunities in the state’s education sector.
Abdullahi urged members of the public to always verify information through official government channels before acting on it, particularly on sensitive matters relating to employment and public service.
“The public is warned against relying on unverified sources, especially when it concerns critical issues such as teacher recruitment,” he added.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparent communication and promised that any genuine recruitment exercise would be announced officially through verified platforms, including state-owned media and the ministry’s website.
The false job alert had gained wide traction on social media over the weekend, sparking excitement and confusion among young graduates across the state before the government’s clarification on Monday.
