Kano Government set aside another N5 billion for pension gratuity

In an effort to deliver on his campaign promises, the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency  Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has allocated N5 billion for the disbursement of a second installment of pension gratuity to retirees in the state just after N6 billion was allocated last year to settle retirees who had not received pension for about 8 years.

He made the announcement on Wednesday at the Council Chamber, Government house, Kano at the start of the 14th State Executive Council Meeting. The Governor emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring the well-being of retirees and civil servants who gave the best of their working years to develop the state. The payment according to him is driven towards bringing smiles to the faces of the retirees who have suffered and waited for years without receiving the due financial benefits for their dedicated service.

During the meeting, the Governor further disclosed that he and his team are currently making moves to clear drainage across the state in preparation for the rainy season. The team led by the Deputy Governor was charged to oversee that all the heads of interim management councils in all the 44 local government areas of the state make arrangements for all drainage in the metropolis to be cleaned to avoid flooding when the rainy season begins.

On the issue of water scarcity in the state, the Governor made it public that efforts are in motion to tackle the issue but mechanical issues and unsteady power supply have made it difficult for the water board to function effectively.

He pleaded with the good people of Kano state to be patient with his administration and support them, while also promising to not disappoint them by ensuring he fulfills his campaign promises.
