First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced its partnership with the organizers of the maiden edition of the E1 Lagos GP, an all-electric powerboat racing championship scheduled to hold in Lagos from October 3 to 5, 2025.

The announcement was made during the E1 Lagos GP Stakeholder Immersion session in Lagos, where the Acting Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communication at FirstBank, Olayinka Ijabiyi reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to supporting developmental initiatives that foster human growth and national pride.

Ijabiyi said:“Our involvement in the E1 Lagos GP is about driving legacy and enabling the passions and aspirations that unite Nigerians.

“We recognize that sports drive us as a country, which is why through our First@Sports initiative, we continue to invest in platforms that inspire and elevate our people.”

FirstBank highlighted its long-standing commitment to sports development, pointing to its support for legacy tournaments such as the Georgian Polo Cup, which it has hosted for 105 years, and the Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship, which it has backed for 64 years.

With the E1 Lagos GP marking the start of the fourth quarter, the partnership also aligns with FirstBank’s annual DecemberIssaVybe campaign, which curates cultural, entertainment, and lifestyle experiences to celebrate the festive spirit of Nigerians.

Speaking at the event, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, commended FirstBank for its support, describing the championship as an initiative that would not only advance sports but also showcase Lagos’s culture, dynamism, and global relevance.

The Lagos leg of the championship will feature teams owned by global icons such as Tom Brady, LeBron James, Didier Drogba, Will Smith, Marc Anthony, Steve Aoki, and Rafael Nadal, before the season concludes in Miami, United States.
