FCMB opens new Sangotedo branch, draws praise for boosting local growth

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has officially opened a new branch in Sangotedo, Lagos, drawing strong praise from traditional rulers and local authorities who described the move as a vital step towards stimulating economic activity in the rapidly developing area.
The ceremonial launch over the weekend brought together traditional leaders, local government officials, and senior executives of the bank, all expressing optimism that the new branch would enhance financial access and spur prosperity for residents and businesses alike.
Chief Lukman Lawal, the Aro of Ogombo Kingdom, speaking on behalf of the Ogudu Oshadi I of Ogombo Kingdom, Oba Abiodun Ogunbo, applauded FCMB for its commitment to empowering individuals and enterprises.
“Banking services are essential for our people,” he remarked, noting that the new branch would open up fresh opportunities and energise the local economy.
Also lending his voice to the occasion, Oba Mohammed Olufunmi, the Olu of Sangotedo Kingdom, through his representative Otunba Tunde Johnson, encouraged FCMB to broaden its presence in the expanding community.
Honourable John Ogundare, Chairman of the Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, described the development as a “significant milestone” for Sangotedo and the wider Eti-Osa region. He characterised the branch as a potential “pillar of support” and appealed to the bank to proactively support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the locality.
Representing FCMB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Yemisi Edun, the Bank’s National Head of Sales, Mr Emmanuel Comla, reiterated FCMB’s commitment to providing inclusive and sustainable banking solutions.
“We are here to grow alongside the community,” he affirmed, referencing the availability of adaptable financing products and targeted support for local businesses.
Comla further pointed to Sangotedo’s strategic location near major infrastructure such as the Lekki–Epe corridor, Dangote Refinery, and the Deep-Sea Port as a key factor behind the bank’s decision to invest in the area.
Mr Ademola Idowu, FCMB’s Group Head of Operations and International Trade Services, reinforced the bank’s dedication to sustainability and innovation. He noted that the new branch is powered by renewable energy and fully integrated with FCMB’s suite of digital services, including mobile banking, efficient ATMs, and solar-powered backup systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The inauguration of the Sangotedo branch signals a new phase in FCMB’s mission to drive community advancement by connecting people, capital, and markets.
