Escalation of security challenges in Nigeria a gang-up against Tinubu – APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and immediate past Commandant of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinbi (Rtd.), has claimed that the escalating security challenges in Nigeria are part of a coordinated gang-up by opposition forces against President Bola Tinubu.

Adewinbi made this assertion over the weekend while hosting the APC National Women Leader, Mrs. Mary Alile, at his residence in Ede, Osun State.

He said: “The escalating security challenges are not disconnected from the political situation in the country.

“The opposition is ganging up against President Bola Tinubu and is doing everything possible to unseat him. They are trying to make governance appear impossible and create the impression that the President is underperforming.”

He, however, expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s capacity to manage the situation.

“The President is on top of the situation. He is holding regular meetings with his service and security chiefs to address the challenges.

The government is also set to deploy advanced technology in the fight against terrorism, insecurity, and banditry.

“I know the government is working on acquiring equipment like drones and other surveillance machines that can provide credible intelligence on the locations of bandits and terrorists.”

Speaking on the purpose of Mrs. Alile’s visit, Adewinbi described it as a “family affair,” symbolizing party unity and internal engagement.

Addressing APC stakeholders and supporters who gathered to receive her, Mrs. Mary Alile reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the interests of women in governance.

“I will continue to champion the cause of women in government.

“For the 2026 election, the position of Deputy Governor in Osun should be zoned to a woman. I assure you that your messages and requests will be conveyed to Abuja,”she said.

She also advocated for gender inclusion in upcoming elections.

The visit is part of ongoing party engagements across the country ahead of the next electoral cycle, with internal lobbying already taking shape within the APC.
