Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has named teams that will challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

Arsenal finished five points behind Premier League champions, Manchester City last season.

Manchester United finished in third position, while Liverpool came fifth with Newcastle taking the fourth place.

Chelsea finished in the other half of the table, coming 12th and Rooney believes Arteta’s side will run close to Pep Guardiola’s men once again this term.

He also said that teams like Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool would do better next season.

“I thought they had a fantastic season,” Rooney, who is the manager of the MLS All-Star side which plays Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Thursday, said.

“It was a huge step and the signings they’ve made have been huge to kick on and challenge City. I think Liverpool, Chelsea and hopefully Man United will be better.

“Arsenal have made some great signings and they’ll compete again.”
