Epe LG Chair appeals for calm over lingering power outage

Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area in Lagos State, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has once again appealed to residents for patience as the community continues to grapple with prolonged power outage.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Epe, she addressed residents who had expressed frustration through protests, assuring them that efforts were underway to restore electricity supply.
Princess Animashaun explained that the blackout had not been caused by the council or its people, but by vandals who damaged critical power cables in the area. She stressed that the local government, together with Agbowa/Eredo and Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDAs, was working tirelessly with the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to resolve the situation in the shortest possible time.
“Our greatest challenge as a community right now is the total blackout, which is indeed a sad development we all acknowledge. However, it was triggered by vandals intent on destroying our power lines, not by any fault of ours,” she stated.
She urged residents to exercise restraint, noting that both government and EKEDC were doing everything feasible to restore electricity.
The council chairman added that her appeal had become necessary given the extended hardship residents had endured in recent months. She called on affected households and businesses to accept the situation as an unfortunate occurrence beyond human control, describing it as an ordeal that must be met with resilience and collective understanding.
