El-Rufai’s media post stirs reaction after missing ministerial appointment

By Sodiq Adelakun

In the wake of Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai unsuccessful bid to secure a ministerial position, he has triggered a wave of responses on social media after sharing a post on Sunday.

Recall a nomination that President Bola Tinubu extended, only for it to be thwarted by the National Assembly due to reported security clearance issues.

In response to this turn of events, El-Rufai made his way abroad after allegedly informing the President of his decision to withdraw interest from joining his cabinet.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, El-Rufai shared the lyrics from a track by renowned reggae artist Bob Marley, a composition touching on themes of friendship, trust, and betrayal.

He captioned the lyrics with his thoughts: “Bob Marley of blessed memory is one of the most talented musicians of all time.

“My love for reggae music is connected with his songs and music.

“Who The Cap Fit – Bob Marley & The Wailers’ is one of my favorites from the 1970s. Enjoy your Sunday with the song and lyrics that are timeless.”

This gesture was met with a variety of reactions from social media users. Some took to the comments section to taunt El-Rufai for his unsuccessful ministerial aspirations, while others expressed hope to witness his engagement with the current government despite the setback.

Reactions include: @Dr relmo atiku: So, you have now become a reggae dancer since Tinubu refused to make you a minister. I recommend a collabo with @burnaboy.

@Juwon sanyaolu: If Bob Marley was a Nigerian residing in Kaduna, you would have harassed, intimidated, and jailed him without a second thought.

@Kareem olusegun: Great man, when are you coming to Nigeria for your position as Minister?

@Gonsaq: There’s nothing Mal said here that is not true though. Just be careful with people you refer to as friends. Make sure they are truly genuine friends.

@kuwait_magix: Tinubu played you out to Egypt, you’re playing Bob Marley out to us just to console yourself. Lessons have been learnt.

@emuvee: One of our very best. It will hurt not to see you transform the Power sector.

@muktees: Cryptic but not so encrypted.

@Surayyah__ahmad: A lot said in a song about friendship and betrayal. Idan Allah Yayi ma mutum, bayadda aka iya dashi.

@masonsokun4real: Great man, when are you coming to Nigeria for your position as Minister?

@AyowoleSanyaolu: If Bob Marley was a Nigerian residing in Kaduna, you would have harassed, intimidated, and jailed him without a second thought.

@warisuo: More like what goes around comes around.
