Ekiti: Police Commissioner orders probe into viral assault video involving officers

The Ekiti State Police Command has ordered a thorough investigation into a viral video circulating on social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), in which a young lady, identified as Miss Priscilla Rita Agbo, accused police personnel of assault and harassment.
The incident reportedly occurred along the Ado–Iworoko Road at a stop-and-search point, where Miss Agbo alleged that policemen removed her clothing and harassed her without cause.
In a press statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the Police described her claims as “false, misleading, and a consciously circulated drama aimed at ridiculing the image of the Force.”
“To keep the record straight, on 28th September 2025, at about 1600hrs, Priscilla Rita Agbo, while driving a fully tinted Toyota Camry car with two male occupants, was flagged down and asked to present her vehicle documents, including her driver’s licence, which she reluctantly presented.
“The vehicle was searched and substances suspected to be hard drugs were found. She became furious and unruly when asked to explain what the substances were and why they were in her possession,”SP Abutu explained.
According to the statement, instead of cooperating with the officers, Agbo—popularly known as “Pant Girl”—began recording the policemen, making what the Command described as false allegations against them.
SP Abutu further stated that despite the intervention of her friends, her legal adviser, and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the jurisdiction, Agbo allegedly insulted, assaulted, and embarrassed some of the officers. The situation, however, was later resolved amicably, and she was released.
“She went ahead, in her usual malicious way, to post only a part of the video that suited her goal of ridiculing the Force,” the statement read. “Other clips captured that day showed her insulting and attacking uniformed officers without provocation.”
After reviewing all available videos and reports, the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served.
The Command also revealed that an invitation had been extended to Agbo on 29th September 2025, but she failed to honour it.
“All efforts to reach her via phone calls have proved abortive,” the statement added. “The Command urges members of the public to disregard her false allegations, as they are malicious and intended to defame the Police. Content creators and social media users are warned to desist from using the Police to chase clout through false or misleading content.”
The Ekiti State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law, fair hearing, and respect for human rights, while ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
