Ekiti Govt urges timely completion of Oye/Are-Ekiti RAAMP project

The Ekiti State Government has called for the prompt completion of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) between the Oye and Are-Ekiti communities by the contractors.

Chief Bamitale Oguntoyinbo, Chairman of the Ekiti State Environmental Protection Agency (EKSEPA), made the appeal during an interview with the media on Sunday in Oye-Ekiti. Oguntoyinbo emphasised that the state government had fulfilled its financial obligations to the contractors, and he criticised the delay in returning to the site, stressing that it was unfair to the residents of the affected areas.

He explained that the Oye/Are-Ekiti road, which is part of the RAAMP initiative, would serve as an important alternative route to Ado Ekiti once completed on schedule.

“I urge the contractors working on the road between Oye and Are-Ekiti to return to the site and finish the project. The state government has paid all due funds; we are already in the rainy season, and the project must be completed on time to avoid any negative reactions from residents,” Oguntoyinbo said.

Oguntoyinbo, who holds the traditional title of Obalodo of Oye Kingdom, further appealed to the contractors to use high-quality materials to ensure the road’s durability and to improve the transportation infrastructure in the communities.

In response to concerns from local residents, Mr Sunday Adumo, the Coordinator of RAAMP in Ekiti State, reassured the public that the Oye/Are-Ekiti road project had not been abandoned, despite speculation to the contrary. He confirmed that the necessary payments had been made to the contractors to guarantee the project’s timely completion.

Adumo echoed Oguntoyinbo’s appeal, urging the contractors to return to the site and ensure the road is finished within the stipulated timeframe
