Ekiti Cargo Airport: Fayose criticizes Gov Oyebanji, says era of reckless financial governance is over

Prince Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has petitioned the Ekiti State Government to provide an account of the funds allegedly spent on the construction of the Ekiti State Cargo Airport.

In the petition, submitted through his counsel, Nzedebe Chinoso Paul, Esq., Isaac Fayose accused Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji of lacking transparency regarding the figures released to the public concerning the construction of the airport.

The letter, dated March 24, 2025, demands that the state government account for the billions of naira allegedly spent on the project, with the airport still not fully operational.

Part of the letter reads: “The Ekiti Airport project is an important initiative that the average Ekiti man and woman will benefit from in the long term. Our client, therefore, calls for immediate accountability regarding the airport project, which should be released and published in the state Gazette so that everyone will be adequately informed.”

Isaac Fayose stressed that the era of impunity in governance in Ekiti is over and that elected officials must be accountable to the electorate, not a select group of individuals.

Isaac Fayose, known for his sharp criticism of Governor Oyebanji’s administration, stands in contrast to his elder brother, Ayodele Fayose, who has consistently supported the incumbent governor.
