EFCC arrests 13 suspected internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 13 individuals suspected of internet fraud at various locations within Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

According to Oyewale, the arrests were carried out during a sting operation on Friday, following intelligence reports.

“Seven of the suspects were arrested at CampGee Hotel, five were apprehended along Mission Road, off Ring Road 3, and one was captured at a different location within Uyo,” he revealed.

Recovered items include two luxury cars, five laptops, and 14 smartphones.

“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” Oyewale added.
