Edet targets new records after MTN CHAMPS victory

Fervent Edet, the 100m and 200m winner in the boy’s juniors at the just concluded MTN CHAMPS Grand Final said that he is looking forward to breaking the records he set in this competition before the year ends.
Eder said that seting a new record is his next target.
“The record is good and can only get better.
“My mind is always positioned to improve in each competion I see myself competing in,” he said.
He added that prior to the competion, he prepared rigoriously as he was determined to win.
“I feel so great wining this; I replicated what I did in Jos.
“I came fully motivated with the mindset to win and I am glad I won.
“I will score myself 5 out of 10 for two wins out of three legs,” he said.
The report states that Bernice Onoriode delivered a standout performances in the U-17 Girls’ 100m final, storming to a new Personal Best (PB) of 11.88s .
The young sprinter displayed remarkable consistency throughout the competition, recording PBs in all three rounds.
She finished ahead of Rebecca Enilolobo, who equalled her own PB of 12.07s for Silver, while Rodia Ibrahim claimed Bronze in 12:16secs.
In the Youth Boys’ 100m final, Edet powered to victory in 11:10secs having earlier dipped under 11secs with a lifetime best of 10:99secs in the heats.
Maleeq Odesanya placed second in 11:20secs, with Boluwatife Alagbon finished behind in 11:25secs.
Similarly, Edet won in the boys’ category, securing his second gold medal in the 200m with a winning time of 22:45secs.
Christian Rotimi Alfred and Kareem Ayatullahi finished on 23:05secs and 23:26s to finish second and third respectively.
Jesudemilade Ojo emerged champion in the Cadet Boys’ 100m, clocking 12:48secs, ahead of Opeyemi Faleye and Owoeye Oluwatomiwa who finished on 12:87secs and 13:13secs respectively.
