DIG Frank Mba voluntarily retires from the Nigeria police force after 34 year career

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of Training and Development at Force Headquarters, Frank Mba, has voluntarily retired from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) after an illustrious 34-year career.

His retirement coincides with a broader leadership transition within the police hierarchy following the retirement of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and the subsequent appointment of Olatunji Disu as the new IGP.

Mba joined the NPF in May 1992 as a cadet officer and quickly distinguished himself, graduating as the best cadet in academics at the Nigeria Police Academy in Kano State. Over the years, he rose through the ranks and became widely respected for his professionalism and communication skills, notably serving as the Force Public Relations Officer and spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.

In addition to his policing duties, DIG Mba built an impressive academic background. He earned a law degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002 after attending the Nigerian Law School in Abuja. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Law with distinction from the University of Dundee in Scotland.

Throughout his career, he attended several international professional training programmes, including the FBI National Academy in Quantico, USA, as well as leadership programmes at Harvard University and the University of Oxford. DIG Mba also represented Nigeria in international peacekeeping efforts, including the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007.
