Daystar Power expands W/Africa footprint with nearly 7MW solar deployment across Nestlé facilities

In a major boost for industrial decarbonisation in West Africa, Daystar Power Group has completed the installation of 6,884 kWp of solar capacity across four Nestlé manufacturing facilities in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Senegal.

The expansion marks the scaling of a commercial and industrial solar partnership that began with a single pilot site and has now evolved into one of the largest corporate clean energy initiatives in the region.

All four solar systems are fully operational and have been custom-engineered to align with the unique grid dynamics and operational profiles of their respective locations.

The multi-country deployment spans three key West African economies, tailored to the specific energy demands of each factory. In Côte d’Ivoire, Daystar Power has delivered 3,447 kWp across two sites in Abidjan.

In Ghana, a 2,547 kWp system powers Nestlé’s Tema factory, while an 890 kWp installation operates at the Dakar facility in Senegal, bringing the total regional footprint to nearly 7 megawatts.

Beyond the sheer scale, the project highlights how Sub-Saharan Africa’s manufacturing sector is increasingly turning to captive solar solutions to hedge against grid instability, reduce operational overheads, and meet stringent global sustainability benchmarks.

By integrating clean energy directly into Nestlé’s heavy manufacturing processes, the installations provide a dual benefit, improving energy resilience for the factories while significantly cutting greenhouse gas emissions in line with Nestlé’s global pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Reacting to the milestone, Yischai Beinisch, Chief Executive Officer of Daystar Power Group, emphasised that the project’s true value lies in corporate trust and operational execution.

He noted that nearly 7 megawatts across four Nestlé facilities is a proud achievement, but what it represents matters more than the figure itself.

He stated that it means one of the world’s most demanding manufacturers has tested their model, trusted it, and returned, adding that their job now is to keep earning that trust across every market where industry needs energy it can count on.

CEO of Nestlé Central and West Africa Region, Samer Chedid framed the investment as a strategic alignment of corporate growth and sustainable regional development.

He explained that by advancing solar energy projects in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, the company is embedding sustainability into its growth, reinforcing its role as a force for good, creating long-term value for communities, and ensuring that its footprint actively contributes to a cleaner, more resilient future.

The successful roll-out across multiple jurisdictions underscores Daystar Power’s deepening operational capabilities within the ECOWAS sub-region.
With Nestlé operating an extensive manufacturing network across West Africa and Daystar possessing robust logistical roots in these exact markets, this milestone positions both companies for potential further expansions as the regional commercial and industrial solar sector enters a mature, high-growth phase.
