Dangote targets 90m tonnes Cement, 1.4mbpd refinery output in vision 2030 expansion

President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has unveiled an ambitious roadmap to expand the group’s cement production capacity to approximately 90 million tonnes and more than double the Dangote Refinery’s output to 1.4 million barrels per day (bpd) by 2030.

Dangote disclosed these strategic targets in Lagos during the company's 2026 Distributors’ Awards Night, noting that the expansion is part of the Vision 2030 strategy aimed at transforming the group into a $100 billion enterprise.

Speaking on the scale of the industrial ambition, Dangote emphasised that the new targets focus on building Africa’s self-sufficiency in energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

"Under this vision, we have announced the expansion of our petroleum refinery from 650,000 bpd to 1.4 million bpd, the fertiliser plant to 12 million metric tonnes per annum, and an increase in production at the polypropylene plant," Dangote stated.

He continued, "Our cement company is also targeting a production capacity of approximately 90 million tonnes by 2030. To put that in perspective, 90 million tonnes by 2030 means that we are producing 50 percent more than the entire production of Saudi Arabia."

The industrial titan explained that Vision 2030 is an integral part of the Africa First project, borne out of the belief that Africa’s future must be built by Africans who refuse to accept limits.

Supporting the expansion narrative, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dangote Cement Plc, Emmanuel Ikazoboh, revealed specific infrastructure projects designed to meet these targets.

Ikazoboh announced plans for a new greenfield cement plant in Itori, Ogun State.

"We have plans for a greenfield two-line, 6 million metric tonnes per annum cement plant in Itori, Ogun State, which will be dedicated to exports," Ikazoboh said.

He also noted ongoing expansions at the grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire, signalling Dangote Cement’s commitment to pan-African growth.

In terms of logistics infrastructure, the Chairman disclosed that the company is overhauling its fleet to support this growth sustainably.

"We have made significant investments in new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks. Our target at the end of 2027 is to have all our trucks CNG-powered, supporting both logistics efficiency and empowering customers," he added.

While the event served as a platform to unveil future projects, it was primarily convened to celebrate the company’s supply chain partners.

Dangote Cement splashed ₦15 billion in rewards on its top distributors and customers for their resilience and outstanding performance. The prizes included ₦9 billion in cash, high-end SUVs, CNG-powered trucks, and containers of cement.

Dangote hailed the distributors as the heartbeat of the organisation, crediting their tireless work for turning the group's vision into tangible results.

"Today’s celebration, themed ‘Partner for Growth,’ is a testament that our growth journey for 2026 has already begun," Dangote noted.
