CP Tijani visits Sanwo-Olu, seeks stronger security collaboration in Lagos

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening security architecture in the state.
The meeting, held at the Lagos House, marked Tijani’s first formal engagement with the governor since assuming office as the 42nd Commissioner of Police in Lagos. He was accompanied by the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayo Ogunsan.
Welcoming the new police chief, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Tijani’s professional background and assured him of the state government’s continued support for security agencies. He noted that his administration would sustain investments in innovative solutions and partnerships aimed at enhancing public safety across Lagos.
Speaking during the visit, CP Tijani outlined his policing strategy, which he said would focus on intelligence-led operations, community engagement, and the use of technology to address emerging security threats. He stressed the importance of collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, private sector stakeholders, and residents in maintaining Lagos as a safe and investment-friendly city.
Ogunsan, in his remarks, expressed confidence in Tijani’s leadership and reiterated the commitment of the Trust Fund to supporting security initiatives in the state. He emphasized that synergy among stakeholders remains critical to achieving effective and measurable security outcomes.
The visit marked a renewed cooperation between the Lagos State Government and the police command, with both parties signalling readiness to strengthen coordination in tackling security challenges.
CP Tijani, a native of Agege in Lagos State, holds a degree in Philosophy from Olabisi Onabanjo University. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has served in various operational and administrative roles across the country.
His appointment is expected to further reinforce ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
