COVID-19: Market leaders express readiness to support government

The market leaders inIfelodun Local Government area of Osun State have expressed their readiness to play advocacy role in the containment of COVID-19.
This is as the leaders sternly warned the market men and women on the need to maintain COVID-19 guidelines within the market square.
The Babaloja of Ikirun, Chief Abayomi Adeyemo who spoke at a Market Rally organized by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye said they were ready to play collaborative efforts with the government in the advocacy role of managing the pandemic in the state.
At the program which was held at the Thursday Market Ikirun, he specifically called on the market men and women to take responsibility in the containment of COVID-19, stating that market is one of the public places where sporadic contacts and spread could occur easily.
“The management and containment of COVID-19 in the state is the responsibility of all which cannot be left to the government alone. Every responsible person must have sense of duty in the process for healthy living is the hallmark in the state.
“The efforts of Oyetola’s administration not only in the management of COVID-19 but also in the general administration of the state are heartwarming and commendable. Supporting his administration is a compulsory duty we all owe,” he added.
Equally speaking, the Iyaloja of Ikirun, Chief Afusat Adebiyi commended Oyetola for his frantic and decisive actions which have always been taken in the best interest of the state, emphasizing that his administration has always been on top of issues thereby making Osun government one of the most proactive states in Nigeria.
She equally acknowledged the series of life changing policies and programs of Oyetola’s administration in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, human capacity development among others which have made life better for the citizen.
She equally inundated the market men and women to be weary of COVID-19 contact by taking necessary preventive measures such as hand washing, wearing of nose masks and application of hand sanitizers, accentuating further that the market leadership would support the government in the advocacy role and would not take it lightly with those who flout the government directives.
She however, urged the government to help them in the construction of public toilet and water system within the market square for the benefits of all market men and women.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser noted that the program is one the engagement frameworks of Oyetola-led administration aimed at sensitizing the public on Covid-19 pandemic and the need to take precaution in a bid to avert any possible contact of the disease as well as propagating the general government activities which the people should be availed of.
Oyintiloye maintained that COVID-19 pandemic is a terrible phenomenon which should not be given any space to exist within the state, noting that the people should take absolute responsibility in the avoidance of it contact let alone its spread in the state.
He however, urged the people of the state to observe all forms of Covid-19 guidelines so as to make Osun totally free of pandemic.
